When sound is “incomplete”, our brain has to work to fill in the gaps – be that due to missing or distorted data from low-res audio or the lack of dimensionality in traditional 2D (stereo) audio. Spatial audio is one attempt to fill in those gaps of what’s missing, or at least to trick the brain into perceiving that it’s all there.
